Herman den Blijker comes to visit
Last month, Dutch chef Herman den Blijker visited us for a photo shoot for one of his cookbooks that is to be published in spring 2013. The new book will discuss various kinds of fruit and vegetables exhaustively, and garlic is one of them.
After showing Herman round the premises, we all went out to the garlic field. Herman den Blijker was very excited about the Beemster garlic, the refreshing bulbs that come straight off the field and are available locally.
The garlic is available for the catering industry, but also for users at home. It is very suitable for cooking as it can be conveniently cut without any fuss – the fresh cloves do not have a green core.
Herman admitted to taking the Beemster puree with him on holiday, while the freshly picked bulbs were sent straight to his restaurant in Rotterdam. Of course, we let you as soon as the cookbooks are out via our website.
